PSYPACT Psychologist

15+ Years of Experience

Dr. Shafran brings over 15 years of experience, having worked in both university counseling settings and private practice with a wide range of individuals. With a strong focus on supporting college-aged students and older adults, she is passionate about helping others navigate life’s challenges while fostering personal growth, resilience, and self-discovery. Dr. Shafran strives to create a warm, supportive space where clients feel both heard and understood.

With experience in university counseling centers, Dr. Shafran understands the unique challenges faced by college students, as well as the struggles of parents supporting them from a distance. As access to services in university counseling centers becomes more limited, Dr. Shafran provides high-quality care, offering a unique systemic perspective to help students navigate their time in higher education effectively.

Dr. Shafran specializes in trauma, bringing advanced training and extensive experience in understanding how deeply distressing events affect both the mind and body. Trauma can result from a single event, such as an accident or assault, or from prolonged experiences like childhood neglect or abusive relationships. She recognizes how these experiences shape emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and even physical health.

In addition to her expertise in trauma, Dr. Shafran has extensive experience treating depression, anxiety, grief, and suicidal ideation, particularly for clients who may require more intensive outpatient care. Her comprehensive approach ensures that clients receive the specialized support they need to navigate complex emotional challenges and work toward healing.

Being a PSYPACT psychologist means Dr. Shafran is licensed to practice across state lines under the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact, allowing her to offer telepsychology services to clients in participating states. For you, this provides greater access to a qualified provider, even if Dr. Shafran isn’t located near you. It also means that if you move for college, work, or travel between states, you can continue seeing Dr. Shafran without needing to find a new provider. PSYPACT ensures that Dr. Shafran follows the same ethical standards and regulations, so you receive quality care no matter where she is based.

As of 2025, the PSYPACT states include AL, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and WY.
