Compassionate Psychotherapy for Growth

Dr. Shafran's Approach
Dr. Shafran’s education and lived experiences have shaped her ability to understand and relate to others, fostering greater empathy in her work. While she brings extensive professional training to the therapy process, she also believes that every person she works with teaches her something valuable. Supporting others is both a privilege and a responsibility she deeply values, and she is committed to creating a meaningful, collaborative therapeutic experience for each individual she has the honor to work with.

Much of Dr. Shafran's career has been dedicated to working in university counseling centers, where she has supported many college students through a wide range of challenges. Additionally, she has extensive experience working with adults beyond college age, including those who have experienced trauma. Her goal is to provide compassionate and effective care tailored to each individual's unique needs and circumstances.

Clients often tell Dr. Shafran that it’s clear how much she cares and that she brings warmth, genuine engagement, and a thoughtful balance of support and directness when needed. They frequently share that they feel comfortable opening up about themselves, even on challenging or sensitive topics, without feeling judged or ashamed.

Dr. Shafran views therapy as a collaborative process and welcomes your ideas, questions, and input. Throughout treatment, she will regularly check in with you to ensure your goals are aligned and that your discussions focus on what feels most important to you. She values feedback and will work to adjust her approach if something doesn’t feel quite right, so you can create a space that meets your needs effectively.
